Clearly, therefore: 1. God is one, that is (by Def. vi.) only one substance can be granted in the universe, and that substance is absolutely infinite, as we have already indicated (in the note to Prop. x.).

Modern English

From this it follows quite clearly: first, that God is unique, that is, (E1D6), in nature there is only one substance, and it is absolutely infinite, as we already hinted in the scholium to (E1P10S).
