Corollary — Part IV

English (Elwes 1883)

Whatsoever we desire from motives of hatred is base, and in a State unjust. This also is evident from III. xxxix., and from the definitions of baseness and injustice in IV. xxxvii. note.

Modern English

Whatever we desire from hatred is shameful and, within the state, unjust. This is also plain from E3P39 (E3P39) and from the definitions of shameful and unjust given in the scholium of E4P37 (E4P37S2).
