Corollary — Part IV

Latin

(not aligned in this witness)

English (Elwes 1883)

From the remarks made in Def. vi. of this part it follows that, if objects are separated from the present by a longer period than we can define in conception, though their dates of occurrence be widely separated one from the other, they all affect us equally faintly.

Modern English

From what we noted in Definition 6 of this Part it follows that we are equally little affected by objects whose time of existence we imagine to be separated from the present by a longer interval than we can determine distinctly — even when we understand that they are widely separated from one another in time.
