Modern English
When several bodies of the same or different magnitude are constrained by others so that they press upon one another, or if they are moved at the same or different rates of speed in such a way that they communicate their motions to one another in a fixed ratio, we say that those bodies are united with one another and that together they compose one body or individual, which is distinguished from other bodies by this union of bodies.
