Scholium — Part I

English (Elwes 1883)

This proposition is also evident from the manner in which (in Prop. xi.) I demonstrated the existence of God; it is evident, I repeat, from that proof, that the existence of God, like his essence, is an eternal truth. Further (in Prop. xix. of my "Principles of the Cartesian Philosophy"), I have proved the eternity of God, in another manner, which I need not here repeat.

Modern English

This proposition is also entirely clear from the way I demonstrated God's existence in (E1P11): from that demonstration, I say, it is established that God's existence, like his essence, is an eternal truth. I have also demonstrated God's eternity in another way in proposition 19 of my *Principles of Cartesian Philosophy*; there is no need to repeat it here.
