Latin

Ex data causa determinata necessario sequitur effectus et contra si nulla detur determinata causa, impossibile est ut effectus sequatur.

From a given definite cause an effect necessarily follows; and, on the other hand, if no definite cause be granted, it is impossible that an effect can follow.

Modern English

From a given determinate cause, an effect follows necessarily. And conversely, if no determinate cause is given, no effect can follow.
